Upcoming runners 18 and 20 May 2018

Friday 18 May 2018

NOVA VOCAL
Race 3: Class 4 Non Premier - 1200m

Horse no: 4
Time: 7.20 PM
Jockey: C GRYLLS (56.5 kg)

Vocalised (USA) x Tense (IRE) 3yo gelding. He looks great; is fit and well and in good condition. He has blinkers on for the first time which will help him concentrate a bit more. Barrier 11 is a bit of an awkward draw, but if he begins well he should have enough gate speed to put himself into a decent spot. He has ability and will hopefully be right in the finish.

MR HANKS
Race 5: Class 3 - 1400m

Horse no: 11
Time: 8.20 PM
Jockey: A MUNRO (51.5 kg)

Showcasing (GB) x Zafonique (NZ) 3yo gelding. He's come through his barrier trial well and has been working nicely during in the week. He gets a nice light weight of 51.5 kg and has drawn a little better in barrier 5 this time around. On paper it looks to be a strong race with some good speed; if he can begin nicely and try closer to the pace just behind the main speed hopefully he can finish off strongly.

BLACK JADE
Race 8: Class 3 - 1400m

Horse no: 7
Time: 9.50 PM
Jockey: O PLACAIS (53.5 kg)

Dragon Pulse (IRE) x Emsiyah (USA) 4yo gelding. He's come through his first-up run well and has galloped nicely earlier in the week. There looks to be a bit of speed in the race but he's drawn well in barrier 4 to be in the box seat just behind the leaders. The step up to 1400m on the turf should suit him and we're hoping he finishes off well.

Sunday 20 May 2018

MR HOPKINS
Race 6: Kranji Stakes D - 1600m
Horse no: 6
Time: 3.45 PM
Jockey: M RODD (56.5 kg)

Mastercraftsman (IRE) x Ruby Rouge (NZ) 4yo gelding. He's come through his last run well and is nice and fit. Barrier 11 makes things a little awkward; he'll have to be ridden back quietly. He'll need a bit of luck in running but he's racing well and seems to prefer the polytrack surface; hopefully he'll put in a good run.

SKYWALK
Race 8: Kranji Stakes B - 1100m

Horse no: 1
Time: 4.50 PM
Jockey: V DURIC (59.5 kg)

Battle Paint (USA) x Daystar (NZ) 4yo gelding. He seems in good order and had a good barrier trial last week. He's drawn barrier 13, which will make things tricky - it's a short course sprint with good speed and there are a few horses who like to go forward. With a bit of luck he can get across and into a good spot. The race is perfect for him first-up and based on his trial last week he should be involved in the finish.
