Upcoming runners 21 and 23 January 2018

Sunday 21 January 2018

LARSON
Race 2: Restricted Maiden - 1100m

Horse no: 6
Time: 1.10 PM
Jockey: C GRYLLS (57 kg)

Guillotine (NZ) x Jodie (NZ) 3yo gelding. Very happy with condition going into first start; he's come through last week's barrier trial well. He's drawn a bit deep inbarrier 11 which could make things a bit awkward. From the wide gate he will have to begin nicely and Craig can get him to try come across without revving him up too much. He's bred to go over more ground so we'll treat this as a nice educational run and hopefully he will finish off well.

GRAND CROSS
Race 7: Kranji Stakes B - 1000m

Horse no: 11
Time: 3.45 PM
Jockey: APP S NOH (-2 kg) (59.5 kg)

Fastnet Rock (AUS) x Defiant Dame (AUS) 5yo gelding. He's in great form going into Sunday's race -  he trialed well last week and is working nicely. Because of the high weight allocated, we have Apprentice S Noh on him, who takes off a valuable 2 kg. From barrier 1 he will have to begin well and be on pace, and see how the race plays out. He's as fit as he can be after a 6 or 7 week break from racing and with a nice ride he should be involved in the finish.

YULONG FAST STEED
Race 11: Class 4 Premier - 1100m

Horse no: 1
Time: 5.55 PM
Jockey: G BOSS (57 kg)

Exceed and Excel (AUS) x Much Faster (IRE) 4yo horse. He's come through his last run very well, kept his condition and has been working powerfully. Having the experienced Glen Boss on board should suit him nicely. He needs to begin positively from the gate and if he can reproduce his last start run and get into a nice position hopefully he will perform well.

Tuesday 23 January 2018

KING OF WAR
Race 8: Class 4 Non Premier - 1200m

Horse no: 8
Time: 10.20 PM
Jockey: M RODD (56 kg)

Exceed and Excel (AUS) x Charmview (AUS) 4yo gelding. He's back from a break after his win last year and is in good form; trialed well last week. Unfortunately for Tuesday's race he's drawn awkwardly in barrier 13. Looking at the race on paper he would probably have to be ridden quietly at the back, and with a bit of luck he should finish off well. After this run he should improve fitness-wise.
