Upcoming runners 19 and 20 May 2017

Friday 19 May 2017

Race 2: Restricted Maiden - 1200m

Horse no: 12
Time: 6.50 PM
Jockey: M RODD (57kg)

Casino Prince (AUS) x Port of Africa (AUS) 3yo gelding. James is very happy with his condition going into his second start, he did a nice piece of work on Tuesday morning - he really stretched out nicely. He's drawn barrier 14, which means he'll have to be ridden patiently and hopefully slot into position three quarters back with some cover. Michael Rodd is the best at patient quiet rides and he's improved from his first up run. If we get into a good position, with some luck to overcome the barrier he should finish off well.

Race 5: Class 3 - 1200m

Horse no: 3
Time: 8.20 PM
Jockey: M RODD (56kg)

Naaqoos (GB) x Laqataat (IRE) 5yo gelding. He looks well going into his first-up run after a break and galloped nicely earlier in the week. He's drawn wide in barrier 13, but James is not too concerned as he'll be ridden patiently anyway. The plan is to get him relaxed in the rear and into some clear galloping room up the home straight, hopefully hit the line well, and move on to step up in distance for his next race.

Race 7: Open Benchmark 83 - 1400m

Horse no: 5
Time: 9.20 PM
Jockey: G BOSS (56.5kg)

Fastnet Rock (AUS) x Earthern Cool (AUS) 5yo gelding. He's been working well recently and looks good. He's drawn a nice barrier in barrier 4 - we'll be nice and positive out the gate and let Glen Boss ride his race. There are quite a few other previous winners running - it's a strong race but White Hunter is in good form, hopefully he'll finish well.

Race 9: Open Benchmark 67 - 1400m

Horse no: 5
Time: 10.20 PM
Jockey: G BOSS (57KG)

More Than Ready (USA) x Unspoken Choice (AUS) 4yo gelding. He's in nice condition and his recent work has been very good. He's drawn a tricky barrier in 8 - there are a couple of horses who like to go forward in the race and will be up on the speed. If we're positive out the gates we'll try to slide forward and get into position but James is happy to leave it to Glen to decide. It's the right grade and he's in good form, fingers crossed he'll be right in the finish.

Sunday 21 May 2017

Race 1: Class 5 - 1200m
Horse no: 6
Time: 12.40 PM
Jockey: M RODD (57kg)

Came Home (USA) x Eta Carinae (JPN) 7yo gelding. He looks great at the moment, his recent work has been good and he galloped nicely earlier in the week. He's back onto the turf which seems to suit him better and he's drawn a decent barrier in barrier 6. The race on paper doesn't look to have too much speed so we can be nice and positive out the gates and get into a forward position. There are a couple of horses in the race who have been running recently but Tassajara's in good form and has been running well of late, so we should be right there in the finish.

Race 9: Class 4 - 1200m
Horse no: 4
Time: 4.50 PM
Jockey: V DURIC (56kg)

I Am Invincible (AUS) x Rivers Secret (AUS) 3yo colt. He's retained his form well, Vlad Duric galloped him on Wednesday and was very pleased with him. His race is on the long course turf which will suit and he's drawn a nice inside barrier in barrier 3. On paper there are a couple of horses who will go forward so we need to be positive out the gate and get in just behind the main speed, and into clear galloping room up the home straight. It looks a nice race for him, with a bit of luck in running he should be involved in the finish again.
