Upcoming runners: 14 and 16 April 2017

Friday 14 April 2017

Race 3: Open Benchmark 67 - 1400m

Horse no: 3
Time: 1.50 PM
Jockey: G BOSS (57.5kg)

More Than Ready (USA) x Unspoken Choice (AUS) 4yo gelding. James is happy with his condition; he looks well, he's nice and bright and fresh. He's been working well on training track. Unfortunately, he's drawn a bit of a tricky barrier in barrier 10 for Friday's race. Looking at race on paper, there doesn't seem to be too much speed and if we can begin well we can roll forward and try to sit third or fourth behind the leaders. We will need a bit of luck - if he manages to do that he could run well and should produce a nice result.

Race 8: Class 5 - 1200m

Horse no: 2
Time: 4.25 PM
Jockey: M NUNES (58kg)

Hard Spun (USA) x Iron Kogu (JPN) 5yo gelding. He's maintaining form well. He's drawn a tricky barrier in 10 again, which may make things a bit awkward as there are a few horses near him who will run forward. If he begins well and gets out into a forward spot or wherever he's happy travelling, we'll leave it to Manoel to ride his race. He's been racing well and a Class 5 win is just around the corner, hopefully it's on Friday!

Race 9: SingaporeThree-Year-Old Classic (Group 2) - 1400m

Horse no: 5
Time: 5.00 PM
Jockey: M NUNES (57kg)

Charge Forward (AUS) x Mozambique (AUS) 3yo gelding. He remains in good form and is in good condition. His gallop last Thursday was very strong and Manoel (Nunes) was very happy. From barrier 11 we have to be positive out the barrier - break from the gate fast and get him across and up to the front much like his last start. It's a strong race with a few horses in top form, but hopefully we'll have a good positive showing again.

Sunday 16 April 2017

Race 1: Kranji Stakes D - 1400m
Horse no: 7
Time: 12.50 PM
Jockey: V DURIC (58kg)

Darci Brahma (NZ) x Savamour (NZ) 3yo gelding. Looks well and galloped with Vlad (Duric) mid-week and could not have worked better. He's drawn a decent barrier in barrier 7 on Sunday. There are a few horses in the race who are likely to roll forward and we'll try to get in just behind the main speed. If we can get him in the perfect spot hopefully he'll finish off well.

Race 2: Restricted Maiden - 1200m
Horse no: 12
Time: 1.20 PM
Jockey: M RODD (57kg)

Casino Prince (AUS) x Port of Africa (AUS) 3yo gelding. Very happy wiht his condition going into his first start. Michael (Rodd) who's been riding trackwork on him thinks he has nice ability. He jumps from barrier 6 and we want him to travel wherever he's comfortable travelling, get into clear room on the home straight and hopefully hit the line well. It's an educational outing for him as he's not raced before but if he runs well we won't complain!

Race 9: Lion City Cup (Group 1) - 1200m

Horse no: 2
Time: 5.00 PM
Jockey: V DURIC (57.5kg)

Snitzel (AUS) x Ditas (NZ) 5yo horse. He's nice and fresh and has come through last week's barrier trial really well. He's drawn a nice barrier in barrier 1 for the Lion City Cup and he should be able to get a soft lead. The plan is to begin well, then give him a mid-race breather and attack from the top of the straight. Despite being up against nice horses in the race he always gives 110% and hopefully he'll be right there in the finish.

Race 10: Class 3 - 1200m

Horse no: 5
Time: 5.35 PM
Jockey: G BOSS (54kg)

Jeremy (USA) x Indus Ridge (IRE) 5yo gelding. James is really happy with him at the moment, he's in good form with himself. On Sunday he jumps from an awkward barrier in 15, which means he'll have to do a bit of work early. On paper there seems to be quite a bit of speed in the race so hopefully he'll begin well, come across and get to the front. This race is a little bit tougher than his previous race-win and a step up in grade, but hopefully he can put up a good show.
