Upcoming runners 17 and 19 March 2017

Friday 17 March 2017

Race 5: Class 4 - 1400m

Horse no: 1
Time: 8.20 PM
Jockey: D BEASLEY (58kg)

Darci Brahma (NZ) x Party Royal (NZ) 4yo gelding. He's in good condition and his recent track work has been really good. The race on Friday is on the long course turf, which James thinks will suit him. He's drawn a bit of a tricky barrier in barrier 10 which might make it awkward to get into nice position. However, Danny knows the horse well and we won't tie him down with too many instructions. There looks to be good speed in the race, but with some luck in running, and if Danny can get into nice spot, he should be very competitive in the Class 4 level.

Sunday 19 March 2017

Race 4: Kranji Stakes D - 1200m
Horse no: 7
Time: 2.20 PM
Jockey: O PLACAIS (58kg)

Foxwedge (AUS) x Marie Soleil (USA) 3yo gelding. He's in good condition going into his first start and has been working well on the training track. Unfortunately, we've drawn an awkward barrier in 14 and the race on paper looks to have good speed. From that gate we'd be best off riding him quietly and try to get back in the field wherever he's happy travelling with some cover and Olivier can ride his race from there. As it's his first run here in Singapore, if he relaxes early and finds the line well we'll be happy.

Race 7: Class 3 - 1400m
Horse no: 8
Time: 3.50 PM
Jockey: G BOSS (53.5kg)

More Than Ready (USA) x Unspoken Choice (AUS) 4yo gelding. James is happy with him going into Sunday's race, he's fit and in good condition. The race is on the long course turf which will suit him. We've got an inside barrier in barrier 1 and a nice light weight which will help. There are a few horses who like to go forward in the race but from that gate we should be able to get into a nice position just behind the main speed. If he runs up to his last two starts he should be right in the finish.

Race 10: Class 4 - 1100m
Horse no: 8
Time: 5.35 PM
Jockey: V DURIC (58kg)

Exceed and Excel (AUS) x Torentosa (FR) 4yo horse. He looks well going into his first race in Singapore. He's drawn a tricky barrier in barrier 9; obviously being over 1100m they're going to run up in front. James won't hold Vlad (Duric) down with too many instructions, but he would like the horse to get into a nice rhythm wherever he's happy travelling. As it's his first race we'll be happy if he races the right way, relaxes early and hits the line well. If he settles and gets into a nice rhythm he should be right in the finish in this kind of race.
