Upcoming runners: Friday 10 February and Sunday 12 February 2017

Friday 10 February 2017

Race 2: Maiden - 1200m

Horse no: 3
Time: 6.50 PM
Jockey: O PLACAIS (58kg)

Per Incanto (USA) x Seebright (AUS) 4yo gelding. He looks well and has been doing good work on the training track. We've decided not to go with the Norton bit as it seems a little too aggressive for him at this stage - he's been working nicely in a ring bit. Jumping from barrier 2 we'll hopefully get him into a nice spot just behind the main speed and hopefully Olivier can get into some clear galloping room. Hopefully if he runs up to his last start he'll be right in the finish.

Race 7: Open Stakes - 1400m

Horse no: 7
Time: 9.20 PM
Jockey: G BOSS (51kg)

Per Incanto (NZ) x Sound Lover (NZ) 4yo gelding. James is happy with his condition going into Friday's race for his first run of his preparation. He's been working well on the training track and had a nice jump-out on Saturday. He gets a nice light weight of 51kg and has finally drawn a nice inside barrier in barrier 3. The race looks to be a tricky one on paper - there doesn't appear to be a natural leader so it could turn out to be a tactical race. We'll ride him nice and positive in a forward position and try to get a box seat run just behind the leaders. Hopefully the light weight and inside barrier will work to his advantage and James is confident of a big run from him.

Sunday 12 February 2017

Race 5: Open Benchmark 67 - 1600m
Horse no: 5
Time: 2.50 PM
Jockey: D BEASLEY (57kg)

Darci Brahma (NZ) x Party Royal (NZ) 4yo gelding. He's come through last week's trial well and is in good form going into Sunday's race. He's stepping up into 1600m, James thinks he's a better horse over more ground. He's drawn barrier 1 which should enable him to get into a nice position early just behind the speed and Danny can ride his race from there. James feels he's got a solid chance.

Race 7: Class 3 - 1400m
Horse no: 5
Time: 3.55 PM
Jockey: V DURIC (54.5kg)

Battle Paint (USA) x Daystar (NZ) 3yo gelding. He did his main piece of work last Saturday and has been working nicely on the training track. We're stepping him up to 1400m for the first time which will suit him. On paper it looks to be a stronger race than the previous Class 3 he ran in, with Absolute Miracle the horse to beat. It's quite difficult for a 3-year-old at this stage to be running against older horses in handicapped races but we're in a nicely-drawn barrier 1 which should get him a nice run just behind the leaders. James is pretty confident he'll run a nice race and give his best.
