Upcoming runners 27 and 29 October

Friday 27 October 2017

Race 2: Restricted Maiden - 1200m

Horse no: 5
Time: 7.20 PM
Jockey: C GRYLLS (53 kg)

Alamosa (NZ) x Shezabeel (NZ) 3yo gelding. He's in good condition and has improved from his first-up run; the step up to 1200m should suit him. He's drawn in barrier 7 and if he breaks well and travels in first four or five runners, hopefully he'll be back in the finish.

Race 6: Class 4 - 1700m

Horse no: 1
Time: 9.20 PM
Jockey: O CHAVEZ (58 kg)

Showcasing (GB) x Bygrosve (NZ) 5yo gelding. He had a much improved effort last run and seems to be holding his form well. We've taken off headgear for this start and hopefully he can get to the front and dictate like his previous run. If he can get soft lead he should be in with a chance.

Race 7: Class 4 - 1100m

Horse no: 1
Time: 9.50 PM
Jockey: M RODD (58 kg)

Jeremy (USA) x Indus Ridge (IRE) 5yo gelding. He's come through last week's trial well and is in good condition. There are a few horses in the race on Friday who like to go forward, but he's drawn quite nicely in barrier 3. From there we'll let him travel wherever he's comfortable and try get him into some clear room on the home straight. If he runs like his barrier trial last week, he should finish off strongly.

Sunday 29 October 2017

Race 2: Restricted Maiden - 1400m
Horse no: 1
Time: 1.50 PM
Jockey: M NUNES (57 kg)

Hellvelyn (GB) x Justbetweenfriends (USA) 3yo gelding. James is happy with his condition, he's been working nicely on the training track. Unfortunately he's drawn a tricky barrier in 11, which could make things awkward. Giving 5kg away to the rest of the filed will be tough but he's in good form and racing well; if he has a bit of luck in running he should be involved in the finish.

Race 4: Open Maiden - 1400m
Horse no: 2
Time: 2.50 PM
Jockey: M RODD (57.5 kg)

Casino Prince (AUS) x Port of Africa (AUS) 4yo gelding. He's been very unlucky in recent starts, but seems to be holding form well in track work. He's drawn nicely in barrier 4 which means he should get into a good position if he jumps well. Stepping up to 1400m should suit him well and it does look a nice race for him on paper; hopefully he'll be right up in the finish.

Race 8: Class 3 - 1000m
Horse no: 4
Time: 5.00 PM
Jockey: M NUNES (55.5 kg)

Battle Paint (USA) x Daystar (NZ) 4yo gelding. He's come through his first-up run well and is definitely fitter this start. He's worked nicely earlier in the week and is in good form. The 1000m could be a bit sharp for him and he will need a bit of luck from the wide gate, but if he can get into good spot he should finish off the race strongly.
