Hardwicke Racing was started in Singapore in 2008 under former Singapore-based trainer Michael Freedman.

It did not take long for horses from the Hardwicke yard to start racking up wins at Kranji - notably the Group 1 Raffles Cup three times with Cheyenne Dancer (2009), Always Certain (2011) and Super Ninetyseven (2013). Hardwicke Racing also trained exceptional horse Super Easy, who won nine races at Group level, including all three legs of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge, the Group 1 Lion City Cup and the Group 1 Patron's Bowl, and was crowned SingaporeHorse of the Year for two years running in 2012 and 2013. Tropaios, who won the Group 1 Longines Singapore Gold Cup in 2013, is another prominent alumnus of Hardwicke Racing.

In late 2015, Michael Freedman began his move back to Australia to train in Sydney, and Hardwicke Racing was taken over by then-Assistant Trainer James Peters.

James officially took over in April 2016 when his trainer's license was approved and has already carved a name for himself as the new head of Hardwicke Racing with wins such as the Group 2 Stewards Cup 2016 with Titanium, and the Group 3 Saas Fee Stakes 2016 with Spanish Bay.
